Next.js Engineer (Mid–Senior)
New Company Inc
New Company Inc is a real estate focused company building modern web experiences to help buyers, sellers, and agents make smarter property decisions. As a small, founder-led team (1–10 people), we are creating a fast, intuitive, and data-driven platform that simplifies how people search for, evaluate, and transact on real estate.
We are looking for a Next.js Engineer (Mid–Senior) to own our front end experience and help shape our real estate platform. You will build performant, SEO-friendly pages, rich search and listing experiences, and agent/buyer dashboards that work across devices. You will collaborate closely with the founder and future product/design hires to translate real estate workflows into simple, intuitive interfaces.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with founder and stakeholders to translate real estate use cases into UX flows and UI.
- Build responsive, accessible interfaces using Next.js, React, and TypeScript.
- Optimize Core Web Vitals, bundle size, and rendering strategies (SSR, SSG, ISR).
- Implement SEO best practices: metadata, Open Graph, structured data, clean dynamic routing.
- Integrate with internal and external APIs (property data, maps, search, authentication).
- Write clean, testable code; participate in code reviews; contribute to component libraries.
- Work with modern CI/CD and deployment platforms (e.g. Vercel) for fast, reliable releases.
- Communicate trade-offs clearly and work effectively in a small, remote-friendly team.
Requirements
- 3+ years of professional experience building web applications.
- 2+ years of hands-on experience with Next.js in production (SSR/SSG/ISR, routing, data fetching).
- Strong proficiency with React, TypeScript, and modern JavaScript (ES6+).
- Experience implementing responsive, accessible UIs with CSS frameworks (e.g. Tailwind CSS) or CSS-in-JS.
- Strong understanding of web performance optimization and Core Web Vitals.
- Experience with SEO for Next.js apps (meta tags, structured data, canonical URLs).
- Experience integrating REST and/or GraphQL APIs.
- Comfortable with Git and code review workflows.
- Clear communication in a remote or small team environment.
Nice to have
- Experience in real estate, marketplaces, or data-heavy consumer products.
- Familiarity with map frameworks (Mapbox, Google Maps, etc.).
- Experience with Vercel, AWS, or other cloud platforms.
- Experience with testing tools (Jest, React Testing Library, Playwright/Cypress).
- Exposure to UX/UI practices or design systems.
- Experience working in early-stage startups where priorities can shift.
What we offer
- Competitive salary aligned with market for Next.js engineers: $115,000–$140,000 (or local equivalent, depending on location and experience).
- Potential equity in a growing real estate product.
- Remote-friendly, flexible schedule.
- High ownership and direct impact on product and technology decisions.
- Opportunity to build foundational architecture and practices from the ground up.
